Berlin | Time for coffee break

February, 2015

There is no better way to start the day with a freshly brewed coffee. Here is a selection of my favorite coffee places in Berlin:

THE BARN : for me one of the best coffee roasters in town! Not only do they serve a great selection of freshly brewed coffees but also some incredible homemade cakes - don't miss to try their carrot cake! The Barn started with a first coffee shop in Auguststrasse, right in the heart of Berlin's Gallery district. Recently the Roastery opened a second bright and spacious space with a very tasteful decor at Schönhauser Allee, near Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz. Both follow the philosophy of slowing down and enjoying a cup of coffee in a calm environment. The Laptop restriction is part of the concept. I really like the idea to thoroughly concentrate on the coffee flavor and celebrating the moment. At The Barn you can truly feel the baristas' passionated work & love for finest coffee.

BONANZA COFFEE HEROES : perfect hotspot & paradise for coffee junkies. Located in the lively & charming Oderbergerstrasse just next to Mauerpark. While staying in Berlin you should definitely stop by Bonanza Coffee Heroes. Their credo: "Don't Die Before Trying". Not only do I adore their cappuccino but I'm also in love with their minimalistic decor and attention to detail. Very plain, wooden tables and welcoming atmosphere. An inspirational space to enjoy excellent coffee!

FIVE ELEPHANT - Coffee Roastery & Cake Shop : located in Kreuzberg , this charming place is ideal for a freshly brewed morning coffee along with homemade cakes. The laid back ambiance makes you want to stay for hours. Better try to get there early as on weekends it's becoming quite popular!

TRES CABEZAS COFFEE SHOPS : that's where the locals around Friedrichshain get their beans from. The team of Tres Cabezas is dedicated to source the best coffee around the globe and are passionated coffee roasters. Their roastery is just next door. I really like the atmosphere of this place. In Kreuzberg they have a smaller coffee shop where you'll find the most delicious cinnamon buns! With my friends it's impossible to leave the place without tasting one of their freshly baked pastries.

CONCIERGE COFFEE: this 15sqm large coffee shop is one of the smallest and for sure cosiest cafes I've seen so far. Located at Paul-Lincke-Ufer the place was named after the former conciergerie of the building in earlier times. The baristas serve excellent coffee and the atmosphere is super relaxing. The distinct interior decor totally appeals to my kind of taste. A great spot in every sense!

CAFÉ 9 : a sweet coffee place just next to the entry of Markthalle Neun in the hip and trendy neighborhood of Kreuzberg. A welcoming break from food shopping & slowing down with a nice cup of coffee.

As you can see Berlin offers its coffee community a growing variety of great coffee shops & roasters.
