Venice | Pure elegance at Palazzina G

January, 2015

Let me take you back to my journey to Venice where I stayed at Palazzina G. Definitely a recommendation if you’re planning a romantic getaway! The 16th century building was carefully redesigned by Philippe Starck with a lot of attention to detail. I literally felt like stepping into a universe of pure elegance. Perfectly located in the heart of Venice and only a few steps aways from Piazza San Marco and Ponte dell’ Accademia. My suggestion: escape the touristic places and get lost in the narrow streets of Venice…my favorite is the area surrounding Peggy Guggenheim's museum in Dorsoduro. Located on the Grand Canal, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection is one of my favorite modern art museums in Europe. Stay and have lunch at the Peggy Guggenheim Café, for me the best lunch place in the area! Also visit the old Palazzo Ca' d’Oro. From the balcony you have a stunning view over Venice. Before dinner mingle in a local bar (my favorite is Osteria Bancogiro) enjoy an aperol spritz and an aperitivo! I’m still raving about the incredibly delicious italian food and wine…La Dolce Vita!

FAVORITE SPOTS:
Palazzo Grassi: contemporary art
Peggy Guggenheim's Collection: modern art
Galleria Ca' d’Oro one of the oldest Palazzos in Venice
Venice's Fish Market Pescheria and vegetable market Erberia, alongside the Grand Canal, just north of the famous Rialto Bridge

RESTAURANT RECOMMENDATIONS:
Ideal for an aperitivo: Osteria Bancogiro
Authentic autmosphere: Osteria Mascaron (located in the area called Zattere)
After visiting Ca' d’Oro have lunch at Cà D'Oro alla Vedova

HOTEL RECOMMENDATIONS:
Elegant and glamorous: Palazzina G
Traditional and familiar atmosphere: CA' PISANI
